What can I expect at an appointment with Dr. Shahid?
Please bring your valid health card for the appointment. When you arrive at the clinic, the staff will greet you. Staff will bring you to the exam room as soon as a room is available. This clinic is the teaching site for McMaster University. You may be seen by the learner before Dr. Shahid sees your child. The average waiting time is 30 minutes. For new patients, you will be asked to complete the patient intake form which will be provided to you at the time of your appointment. Please bring book to read and peanut free snacks for your child while waiting to be seen.
How can I get an appointment with Dr. Shahid for my child?
Dr. Shahid sees patients with referral only. Your family doctor needs to refer your child to Dr. Shahid for specific medical reasons. Once our clinic receives the referral, it will be triaged and the appointment will be booked accordingly. You and your family doctor will be notified about the appointment.
Does Dr. Shahid see patients on a walk-in basis?
Dr. Shahid is a consultant pediatrician as such patients are seen by appointment only. Please request your family doctor to send the referral to our office.
Does Dr. Shahid perform routine child vaccinations?
Dr. Shahid does not perform any vaccinations, please request your family doctor to provide all the routine vaccinations.
Do you have imaging, Laboratory and pharmacy services at your office?
We do not have imaging services at our clinic but we have a laboratory and pharmacy on site.
Who shall I contact if my child needs renewal of prescription (prescribed by Dr. Shahid)?
For the renewal of prescription, it is advised to book an appointment with Dr. Shahid, however, if you run out of the prescription before your next appointment, please contact the clinic and leave the message with staff. Dr. Shahid will be contacted by the staff and the prescription will be sent to the pharmacy in the next 48-72 hours. If Dr. Shahid is away, your family doctor can provide a renewal of prescription.
What if my child does not have an OHIP card and my child has an appointment with Dr. Shahid?
All pediatric services are covered with OHIP, but if your child does not have an OHIP card, then please refer to the non-OHIP fee schedule for further details.
Do you have parking facilities?
Yes, Free Parking is available in front and around the Medical Centre.
